Tuesday, 9/30/2003 - Boston Winter Activities Club (BWAC) was founded
Kathy Donaldson posted a message looking for skiers/snowboarders in craigslist, and in a matter of days we had a Yahoo! Group with dozens of members with all levels of skiing/snowboarding skills.

Thursday, 10/16/2003 - First BWAC social gathering in Kings Bowling, Back Bay
Kathy, Michelle, Eimear, Una, Josh, Wendy, Joel, Beth, Leigh, Jennifer, Jallel, Chris, etc
More than 20 people showed up for the first BWAC social gathering. I am recalling names from memory here, so I apologize for not remembering all the names. It's the night of the infamous Red Sox Game 7 loss to the Yankees.

Tuesday, 11/04/2003 - BWAC gathering in Grendels, Harvard Sq
Kathy, Maura, Chris, Josh, Leigh, Jennifer, Beth, Annie, Mike, etc
Grendels has since then become a weekly Tuesday gathering for BWAC members. A great way for new members to meet others.

11/21 thru 11/30/2003 - Windsurfing Trip to Cape Hatteras, NC
Edy, Jozef, Chen and John
Thanksgiving week spent windsurfing in Cape Hatteras, NC. Aside from the exhausting 13-hour drive each way, it's one hell of a vacation! We rented an awesome house that survived the Isabel storm earlier in the summer, fully equipped with outdoor jacuzzi and direct access to the beach. A great one week vacation in the sun to prepare ourselves physically and mentally for the upcoming brutal New England winter.

12/05 thru 12/07/2003 - Blizzard in New England
One of the strongest blizzard in New England ever. Meteorologists did not forecast the severity of the blizzard, and it hit everybody by surprise. It lasted over 2 days and we accumulated more than 2 feet of snow all over Boston. Work, school and some public services stopped functioning for a couple of days. Nevertheless, the result is beautiful snow in New England and excellent skiing condition for the next week or two.

Sunday, 12/07/2003 - My first time Cross-country skiing
After spending over $200 on eBay for my cross-country equipment, I went cross-country skiing for the first time in Fellsway. Although the condition was less than optimal, I did enjoy it. I have to admit that it's indeed a lot of work and it's quite a beautiful sport. Having said that, I would still much prefer downhill skiing.

Sunday, 12/14/2003 - First Skiing trip with BWAC
Edy, Georgia, Lisa, Maura, Leigh and Tempest
Day trip to Sunday River, ME with Ski Market. Snow condition was great and more than half the mountain trails were open. It was definitely better-than-expected skiing condition. Not bad at all for my first skiing experience this season. This is the day I was really thankful for my $80 helmet. I fell very hard and landed on my head after my skis got stuck in the snow. Now, my helmet has bad scratches, but my head is in one piece.
Skiing stats: Max speed = 49.9mph, Distance = 18.6miles

Tuesday, 12/17/2003 - Lord of the Ring 3: Return of the King
Edy and Jozef
It's a freaking 3-1/2 hour movie, got home by 2:00am, showed up at work late the next day. All right, this is not exactly a significant activity, but nevertheless, it's a memorable one.

Wednesday, 12/30/2003 - Received My AipTek DV3100 Baby Digital Camcorder
I bought this baby digital camcorder from target.com for about $100 (well, I spent another $70 for 256MB CompactFlash card). For this price, this babycam is definitely worth every penny. It can take pictures at 3.1 Megapixel, and a video of decent quality at 320x240 resolution. Using the 256MB CF card, it can record AVI video for about 45 minutes. However, remember that this is a cheap digital camcorder, so don't expect to shoot your home video with it. Quality of pictures and videos is decent enough for viewing, but not recommended for printing, etc.
