In this page, I have included the datasheets of many chips and devices I have used, primarily for my own reference:

Parts NameDescriptionWhere?
  LM1488 & LM1489RS232 serial line driver (1488) & receiver (1489).

Radioshack
MAX-232RS232 serial line driver & receiver in one chip (only need +5V power supply ie. it has internal voltage doubler & inverter).

Jameco
Omron EE-SB5V-EReflective IR sensor (<= 19mm), expensive though!

Digikey
Optek OPB706AReflective IR sensor for object detection (<= 3mm). Used in both my Micromouse robots: SUmo and Scout.

Jameco
PIC16F628Microchip PIC that I used the most (4MHz internal RC oscillator, 2K FLASH programmable memory, 224 bytes RAM, 16 I/O nicely packaged in an attractive 18 pins chip).

Digikey
  RF Tx/RxWenshing RF 433MHz transmitter/receiver

RadioShack
TI SN754410Small H-bridge driver, excellent for driving motors for small robots.

Acroname
uFlash TCPIntel 386 board with DOS-like operating system, with built-in RS-232 and 10Mbps Ethernet. Very expensive (~$270)
